Research

The Museum promotes natural history research and takes part in various field studies, both for strictly scientific purposes (faunistic, ecological, biogeographical and taxonomic research) and for more applied reasons, especially in the field of nature conservation and wildlife management. The experience of the Museum's curators and collaborators is therefore available to those in charge who wish to promote the conservation of species or ecosystems, to manage protected areas or particular declining species in the best way, or to deal with problems caused by invasive species.

Research aimed mainly at management is usually carried out at the request of regional bodies, provinces, municipalities, park authorities or private clients in Piedmont, and also in other regions, and it contributes to the funding of the Museum through agreements with the City of Carmagnola.

The Museum's curators take part in expeditions abroad as part of international cooperation. These activities are not funded by the City of Carmagnola but by private sponsors or through project funding.
