Gianfranco Curletti

Gianfranco Curletti is the Museum's entomologist. His main field of interest is the jewel beetles (Coleoptera, Buprestidae). He is one of the world's leading specialists in the genus Agrilus, of which he has described hundreds of species. After studying the Italian Buprestidae, he published fundamental contributions to the study of the genus Agrilus in Africa, Australia and South America. He has taken part in several international research expeditions to Gabon, Madagascar and Panama as part of the “Radeau des Cimes” and IBISCA projects.

He has been retired since April 2013, but regularly comes to the Museum as a volunteer curator.
