No-cost cooperation agreement renewed with the Museu de Zoologia da Universidade de São Paulo (Brazil) for the identification of South American jewel beetles (Coleoptera, Buprestidae).

Received from the Metropolitan City of Turin (Flora and Fauna Service) a specimen of wolf (Canis lupus) hit by a car between Poirino and Pralormo (province of Turin), near the Tetti Lupo farmstead (sic! lupo is Italian for “wolf”). The specimen will be prepared by a taxidermist as soon as possible.

The application form for the INTERREG V A (ALCOTRA) project entitled VISIT’ALPES « Développement et mise en réseau des centres d’interprétation « leaders » du patrimoine alpin du Mont Viso jusqu’au Mont-Blanc» (“Development and networking of the ‘leading’ interpretation centres of the Alpine heritage from Monviso to Mont Blanc”) has been completed and is ready to be submitted. The project is built around its main objective, which is the need to “network the centres that interpret the Alpine heritage and improve the way they welcome visitors, by developing visitor reception and tourist information points of excellence, strengthening the skills of the teams in charge of running the centres, and developing an educational offer of excellence on the natural and cultural heritage”. The project partners, besides the Carmagnola Museum, are: Centre de la Nature Montagnarde, Mairie de Sallanches, Parc Naturel Régional du Massif des Bauges, Asters – Conservatoire départemental d’Espaces Naturels de Haute Savoie, Regione Autonoma Valle d’Aosta (RAVA) / Assessorato all’agricoltura e alle Risorse Naturali – Spazi protetti (which runs the Museo Regionale di Scienze Naturali), Parco Naturale Regionale del Mont Avic. If the project is approved, the Carmagnola Museum will receive adequate funding.

The Museum has been entrusted with a specimen of Eurasian lynx (Lynx lynx) that died in captivity at the Centro Recupero Fauna Selvatica di Bernezzo (province of Cuneo), to which it had been entrusted by the Province of Turin in 2008.
JUNE 2015
No-cost collaboration agreement signed with the State Darwin Museum, Moscow.
The State Darwin Museum in Moscow is the most visited museum in the whole of the Russian capital. It has very rich natural history collections which, among other things, are unusual in that they include specimens of a great many breeds of domestic animals (something uncommon in natural history museums). The Museum is very active in putting on a very large number of temporary exhibitions and has a spectacular nature education centre specifically for children. The agreement with the Carmagnola Museum provides for exchanges of scientific material, of experience, of photographic exhibitions and so on.
